The traditional Pilates studio is built around five pieces of apparatus — reformer, Cadillac, chair, ladder barrel and spine corrector — and each does something the others cannot. Bought in that order, every addition expands the repertoire rather than duplicating it.
Most people stop at a reformer plus one other piece, which covers the large majority of what they will actually do. A full studio setup needs roughly 250–350 sq ft with working clearance.
What to check when building a setup

- Decide on a tower at reformer purchase; it rarely retrofits
- Chair next — the most new repertoire per square foot
