Not just a prerequisite for our Pilates Certification, but the core of the Reneau Reformers Movement Specialist Certification, this course will guide you in recognizing, improving and teaching fundamental movement patterns.
How Reneau Reformers Instructor Training Works
The education path you choose determines the career opportunities available to you. With Reneau Reformers Education there are 4 certification levels. The industry gold standard, Pilates Comprehensive certification, is the most expansive training including Pilates Mat, Reformer, Trapeze Table/Cadillac, Chair and Barrels. Mat and Reformer certification explores the relationship between Mat work and Reformer exercises. The Reformer level certification focuses on exercises, teaching applications and programming specific to the Reformer. If teaching Mat classes is what you desire, there is a certification level that focuses on the Mat repertoire and movement foundations.
Personal mastery of movement skills and critical reasoning are part of what makes your classroom experience come to life. Through the practice hours, you are encouraged to personally experience the exercises presented to you in each course, feel and explore equipment set up and understand how to recommend spring choices. The observation hours encourage you to look and see how clients respond and how teachers organize, cue and communicate during sessions and classes. These hours combined provide you the opportunity to ask questions and to see the relationship between what you learn and how you teach.
Student teaching is where you take the depth and breadth of your coursework and start to put it into practice. It is through student teaching that you gain confidence as an instructor, practice your cueing and teaching skills, and begin to reason critically in actual practice. The student teaching is invaluable because it is where you discover who you are and your unique voice as a Pilates instructor.
Passing the practical and written exams is a critical piece in your educational journey. It is an opportunity to personally present your knowledge and receive real time and invaluable feedback from a Reneau Reformers Educator whose goal is to help you round out what you have learned and give you options for continued growth so you can be a successful instructor. Once you have passed your exam and become a certified instructor in your chosen program you become part of a strong and committed Reneau Reformers instructor community.
